8-Phase Validated EMDR Protocol

Helping You Befriend Your Nervous System to Find Safety in the Present.

Restore Safety, Calm, and Emotional Balance with evidence-informed Polyvagal Therapy.

Learn to understand your nervous system, shift out of survival mode, and build lasting resilience. Available in-person in Mississauga and online across Ontario.

If you often feel "wired but tired," chronically overwhelmed, or completely shut down, your nervous system may be stuck in a state of survival. When our bodies perceive constant stress, we lose the ability to feel safe and connected to others. Polyvagal Therapy focuses on the Vagus Nerve, which is the body's primary communication highway between the brain and organs, to help you move out of "fight-or-flight" and back into a state of social engagement, calm, and healing. At Inner Wellness Psychotherapy, our Mississauga therapists provide a safe environment to help you map your nervous system and regain control over your physiological responses, one session at a time.

The Polyvagal Ladder: Understanding Your Nervous System

Polyvagal Therapy helps you identify where you are on the ladder — and provides tools to navigate back to safety and connection.

  • Ventral Vagal (Safe & Social): The ‘green zone.’ You feel calm, curious, connected, and engaged. Your nervous system is in its optimal healing state.

Our goal: Help you spend more time here.

  • Sympathetic (Fight or Flight):The ‘yellow zone.’ You feel anxious, angry, hypervigilant, or on edge. Your body is mobilizing for perceived danger.

Our tools: Breathing, movement, and co-regulation.

  • Dorsal Vagal (Freeze/Shutdown): The ‘blue zone.’ You feel depressed, numb, disconnected, or shut down. The nervous system has collapsed to protect you.

Our approach: Gentle activation and nervous system mapping.

At Inner Wellness Our approach focuses on "Nervous System Mapping."

  • Psychoeducation

We teach you about your nervous system so you can understand your own reactions with compassion.

  • Somatic Awareness

We help you notice and interpret your body's signals: tension, breath, heartbeat, as important information.

  • Regulation Exercises

Specific breathwork, movement, and grounding techniques to activate the Vagus Nerve and restore calm.

The therapeutic relationship itself becomes a tool for safety. Your nervous system learns through safe connection.
