Partnering with You to Heal, Grow and Balance
In Canada, a woman or girl is killed by violence every 48 hours. Indigenous and Black women, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, young people, and women with disabilities face even higher rates of violence. Additionally, 1 in 8 Canadian men experience sexual violence in their lifetime. Our services provide therapeutic interventions to partner with YOU in HEALING, GROWTH, and BALANCE, addressing the need for safety, stabilization, recovery, and empowerment.
Our practice provides a safe, supportive environment for children, youth, families, and individuals who have experienced domestic violence or intimate partner violence. Through our Violence Against Women and Gender-Based Violence Prevention services, we offer avenues of support for all genders, including trans, non-binary, and anyone who identifies as a woman or man, to help them work through the trauma wounds caused by GBV.
The Government of Ontario defines sexual violence as "any violence, physical or psychological, carried out through sexual means or by targeting sexuality." This includes sexual abuse, assault, rape, harassment, trafficking, and more. The Government of Canada has also recognized Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV), which uses technology to cause harm, as another form of GBV. We offer support to clients who have been affected by TFGBV.
With 1 in 3 Canadian women and 1 in 8 Canadian men experiencing sexual violence, the long-lasting psychological impact of GBV cannot be overlooked. At IWP, we work to address these impacts with compassion and care, fostering a path to healing and empowerment.
