Jose Aniekwe, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) in Mississauga.
“Growth and clarity are not destinations — they are skills we develop through reflection, practice, and support.”
Jose Aniekwe supports men, youth, athletes, and professionals in developing practical strategies for emotional wellbeing, resilience, and performance. He works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, anger, burnout, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, workplace stress, and the impacts of abuse or gender-based violence. His training in trauma-informed care allows him to provide safe, structured support for survivors of abuse and GBV, emphasizing autonomy, safety, and respect.
Located at Inner Wellness Psychotherapy in Mississauga, Jose’s offers both in person counselling and virtual therapy across Ontario, ensuring accessible and flexible mental health care.
Jose combines psychotherapy with mental performance coaching to help clients strengthen emotional wellbeing while building real world skills. His practice is grounded in a diverse range of evidence based modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). To ensure a comprehensive and tailored experience, he also integrates Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), narrative therapy, person centered care, and Attachment Based Family Therapy (ABFT).
By incorporating psychodynamic insights, trauma focused care, and self compassion based therapy, Jose helps clients explore deep seated patterns while fostering resilience through a strength based approach. Therapy may include strategies for emotional regulation, stress management, confidence building, habit development, and performance optimization in sports, work, or daily life. His focus is on equipping clients with actionable tools and practical skills to navigate challenges and increase resilience.
Jose is registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) as a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), authorized to practice under supervision while completing final registration requirements. He holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) from Yorkville University and a postgraduate degree in Business Administration.
His experience as a competitive athlete, combined with professional experience in business and multicultural integration, allows him to support clients navigating high-pressure environments, workplace demands, cultural identity, and personal transitions with practical insight and cultural competence. He provides in-person therapy at Inner Wellness Psychotherapy and virtual therapy across Ontario.
Drawing on my experience as a former professional athlete and a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I understand the pressures of high performance and the challenges of navigating life transitions. I combine mental performance coaching with therapy to help clients develop practical skills, emotional resilience, and clarity in both competitive and everyday settings. My approach is collaborative and grounded, creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and goals while building actionable strategies to manage stress, relationships, and performance demands.
I have worked with a wide range of clients, including youth and caregivers affected by human trafficking, individuals with high-functioning autism, clients living with chronic pain, and men across life stages navigating self-worth, confidence, and relational challenges. Through trauma-informed care and culturally sensitive support, I help clients develop insight, strengthen resilience, and build skills they can apply in daily life, sports, and personal growth. Whether you are an athlete, navigating a life transition, or processing trauma, my goal is to provide guidance and support that balances emotional understanding with practical, real-world strategies.
Your Partner in Safety, Healing, Growth, and Balance.
