Greetings,
Shalley Singh is currently completing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University, building upon her foundation in evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques. Her professional experience spans a variety of settings, including providing mental health services for youth, supporting children on the autism spectrum, and working as an addiction’s counsellor with Indigenous populations in Thunder Bay.
Shalley’s journey in mental health began during her Specialized Honours in Psychology at Lakehead University, where her research on Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI) ignited her passion for supporting individuals through their mental health challenges. This combination of academic research and practical experience shapes her approach to therapy.
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” This ancient wisdom reflects my belief that transformation starts with the courage to reach out and seek support. In the therapeutic relationship, each session represents a step forward on your path to healing and growth, taken at your own pace and in your own way.
What Sets Me Apart?
My approach to therapy is deeply influenced by my experience working in a shelter setting, where I learned the profound importance of truly listening before speaking. This experience taught me that healing begins with being heard and understood. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where your story can unfold naturally, and together we can explore paths to healing and growth.
I incorporate a variety of therapeutic modalities into my practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SBFT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Strength-Based Therapy. By drawing on these evidence-based approaches, I tailor my treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each client.
Through my practice, I help individuals navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and emotional regulation. I work with clients to build resilience and develop effective coping strategies, while also guiding them to strengthen their self-esteem and pursue personal growth. With extensive experience supporting individuals facing major life changes, I understand the complexities of transitions and grief. I offer support for those experiencing stress, burnout, and relational challenges. My background in addiction counseling has given me valuable insight into recovery and healing, while my work with students and professionals equips me to address school and work-related stressors effectively.
My practice warmly welcomes young adults, youth, and adults who are navigating life transitions. Whether you are facing immediate challenges or seeking deeper personal growth, I offer a collaborative, empathetic approach tailored to your unique needs and goals. Together, we can work towards creating meaningful change and fostering lasting well-being.
Your Partner in Healing, Growth, and Balance.
