Evidence-Based Skills Training • Mississauga, ON
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) was originally developed by Dr. Marsha Linehan to treat individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder, but has since proven effective for a wide range of emotional and behavioural challenges. DBT combines cognitive-behavioural techniques with mindfulness practices, helping you balance acceptance of where you are with the motivation to change.
At Inner Wellness Psychotherapy in Mississauga, our therapists use DBT to help clients who feel overwhelmed by intense emotions, struggle with impulsive behaviours, or find it difficult to maintain stable relationships. DBT provides concrete, practical skills you can use in everyday life.
DBT is structured around four core skill modules: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Together, these skills create a comprehensive toolkit for navigating life’s challenges with greater stability and confidence.
Experience a safe and supportive environment where you can deeply explore and heal, guided by our supportive therapists.
Enjoy the flexibility of engaging in therapy from the comfort of your own space. Our virtual sessions provide convenience without compromising the quality of care.
Immerse yourself in the calming outdoors while engaging in therapy. Our unique approach combines physical activity with mental well-being, offering a refreshing perspective on healing and self-discovery.
Learn to stay present and observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Mindfulness is the foundation of all DBT skills, helping you respond rather than react.
Develop strategies to tolerate painful emotions and crisis situations without making things worse. These skills help you survive difficult moments with integrity.
Understand your emotional patterns and learn practical techniques to reduce vulnerability to negative emotions and increase positive emotional experiences.
Build skills for asking for what you need, saying no, and managing conflict — all while maintaining self-respect and healthy relationships.
