Greetings,
Marina Werdina is an authentic, compassionate, and competent therapist-in-training who supports individuals through meaningful therapeutic work. With a warm, grounded approach, Marina offers a space where clients can be themselves—free from judgment and pressure—as they explore their challenges and goals.
Fluent in both Assyrian and English, Marina brings a strong cultural lens to her work, shaped by her personal experience as the daughter of immigrants. This background informs her connection with individuals navigating cultural identity, generational expectations, and the complexities of adjusting to new environments. She is especially interested in working with newcomer communities, youth, and members of the 2SLGBTQI+ population—particularly around issues of identity, belonging, and self-expression.
Marina is currently completing her Master of Counselling (MC) at Athabasca University. She uses a collaborative, evidence-based approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment-based therapy, mindfulness practices, and more.
She works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, bullying, autism, ADHD, borderline personality disorder (BPD), self-esteem issues, school-related stressors, and major life transitions. Marina strives to support each client with genuine care—meeting them where they are, treating each person as unique, and helping them reconnect with their strengths to move forward with confidence.
I hold Brené Brown’s words close to my heart:
“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.”
To me, therapy isn’t about being told what to do—it’s about being truly seen and supported while you make sense of your experiences and create the kind of life you want to live. I believe that healing happens in a space where you feel safe, respected, and accepted for who you are. That’s the space I strive to create with every client.
My approach is collaborative, affirming, and personalized. I know there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, which is why I tailor our work together to meet your specific needs, values, and goals. I bring cultural sensitivity, compassion, and curiosity to every session, and I deeply value the trust that clients place in me.
As someone who understands the complexities of identity, belonging, and personal growth, I’m especially passionate about working with people who may have felt overlooked or misunderstood in other parts of their lives. My goal is to walk beside you—not in front of you—as you navigate challenges, build resilience, and uncover the strength that’s already within you.
Your partner in Healing, Growth, and Balance.
